Illinois Grand Lodge and Scottish Rite Masons provide scholarships to help individuals better themselves through pursuit of knowledge.

The Leon M. Abbott Scholarship was created in honor of Leon M. Abbott, Sovereign Grand Commander (1921-1932) for members or directly related to Scottish Rite Mason in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction or member of youth organization sponsored by Masonic fraternity in Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.

Eligibility

  • Application and all supporting documents must be postmarked and forwarded to AASR Valley nearest you by March 1st.

  • Must include most recent transcript available and two letters of recommendations (1 professional and 1 personal). Recommendation letters must be in a sealed envelope with writer’s signature across seal.

  • Must be member or directly related to Scottish Rite Mason in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.

  • Also eligible, members of youth organizations sponsored by Masonic fraternity in Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.

  • May be undergraduate or graduate student.

  • Scholarship may be continued as long as student is enrolled as full-time in accredited college.

  • Scholarship may be terminated at end of semester during which cumulative GPA not 2.75 or higher or if student changes institutions or his/her program without notification to the scholarship committee.

  • If student desires to renew scholarship for ensuing year, the student must forward a letter of intent declaring his/her desire to continue as scholarship recipient to scholarship committee.

  • Checks will be forwarded to student’s college or university.
